BUT HOW DID I GET HERE?
To one degree or another, I have always been this way. I grew in Laie, Hawaii, a small country town on the North Shore of Oahu. I had entrepreneurial-minded parents and six loving sisters. Although we didn't have a lot, my parents taught us to be proactive, set goals (lots of them) and go after them. They taught us to love God, love others, and live life to the fullest.
And so, that has been the underlying theme of my life. No cardboard tasting life for me. Let's squeeze every last drop of guava juice out of every moment and have no longing regrets.
This unquenchable passion often drew me to study extraordinary achievers in the non-fiction section of the library. I found mentors who offered their advice and formulas to success in health and fitness, spirituality, leadership, business, and life-transformation. It also drew me to God. Somehow, I always felt heaven’s help near, leading, guiding, answering my silent pleas to figure out the “how’s” in life.
As a people watcher, one question I had for several years was, “Why do some people really thrive and go after their dreams, while others do not?” While vacuuming one morning (inspiration comes at the most unusual times), a thought came to my mind, “People are charmed by choice, not chance.”
Ironically, a few months later, my faith and knowledge would be put to the test. I found myself in a tough place. I was married with three young sons and things were going great until a few unfortunate events took my family on a nose dive.
My husband was hit with a double whammy. He was diagnosed with a incurable and very painful auto-immune disease and as he was finding relief, was in a car accident and could no longer work. In addition, my children also had health concerns that were not being resolved through traditional means. Finding additional health solutions for him and my children became a high priority.
Then, to top things off, with the downturn of the economy, our new start up business tanked and we soon were facing financial devastation and foreclosure. I was holding on as tightly as I could, but it was useless.
I felt powerless, discouraged, and diminished. We were on a boat that was sinking and I realized that something had to change, and had to change fast.
THE TURNING POINT
I sat down on a quiet Sunday and with paper, pen and a prayer in my heart, I co-created with God a new story. It was glorious. I loved my new life. My family was healthy and thriving and we were achieving financial success that was unfathomable to us. I was living in alignment with my higher purpose and also partnering with powerful, inspiring, and influential people. Together we were agents of positive change in this world and TRULY LIVING.
I wondered, “Could this really happen?”
I took the leap and three years later, IT ALL CAME TRUE.
No, a fairy godmother did not show up and lay a yellow brick road to glorious success, but we did discover wonderful natural solutions and a financial vehicle that could work for us. It felt in alignment with who we authentically were and how we felt we should show up in the world.
And hope nurtured our battered souls. Renewed with inner strength and fueled by grit, we surrounded ourselves with mentors and thought leaders who challenged us to relentlessly banish limiting beliefs, fire our excuses, serve bigger and create the lives we truly wanted to live.
And now my friend, this is where our journey begins. IT IS YOUR TURN!
All you have to do is decide how you want to play.
